We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Manager – Innovation to lead consumer-led innovation across our portfolio — shaping what we grow, make, and bring to market next. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who thrives at the intersection of insight, creativity, and commercial reality, and who is comfortable leading with influence.

Job Description

The Opportunity

This role leads the end-to-end management of innovation initiatives, contributing to a rolling product and varietal development funnel that fuels long-term growth. You’ll work closely with General Managers and cross-functional teams to turn insight into commercially viable, brand-aligned innovation — from early opportunity identification through to launch and learning.

You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy, partnering with senior stakeholders, guiding teams through complexity, and helping embed a stronger innovation mindset across the business.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

Shape the future

  • Use consumer, customer, category, and market insights to inform long-term business planning and innovation strategy
  • Identify white spaces, unmet needs, and occasion-based growth opportunities
  • Help shape differentiated innovation platforms aligned to brand architecture and portfolio tiers (core, premium, incremental, breakthrough)

Lead innovation from idea to impact

  • Develop concepts and business cases for new product platforms.
  • Partner with General Managers and cross-functional teams to assess commercial viability, investment, and ROI
  • Provide marketing and consumer leadership into varietal strategy discussions alongside farming, technical, and commercial teams.

Bring discipline to creativity

  • Drive the Perfection Fresh stage-gate innovation process
  • Prepare recommendations for senior leadership forums and support portfolio prioritisation decisions
  • Balance ambition with focus, helping teams decide what to progress, pivot, or stop

Enable great execution

  • Drive strong go-to-market alignment across Marketing, Sales, Operations, Farms, Technical teams and customers
  • Contribute to launch toolkits and internal communications to set teams up for success
  • Support post-launch performance tracking and learning loops

Lead without ego

  • Lead and support the NPD team on assigned initiatives, providing coaching and direction
  • Uplift innovation and ideation capability across the business
  • Embed an innovative, curious, and disciplined mindset — often leading without formal authority

Desired Skills and Experience

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re less interested in a “textbook innovator” and more interested in how you think and lead; someone motivated by converting ideas into reality – delivering tangible outcomes.

You’ll likely bring:

  • 7+ years’ experience in innovation, marketing, or product management (FMCG, fresh food, or similar)
  • Proven experience taking ideas from insight through to market delivery
  • Strong commercial acumen and comfort building and evaluating business cases
  • The confidence and judgement to work autonomously, while bringing others with you
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Advanced capability in Excel, PowerPoint, and syndicated market data
