Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a commercially driven and strategic General Manager – Fresh Produce to lead the end-to-end performance of a key category within our portfolio. This role holds full P&L accountability and is responsible for delivering sustainable growth, market leadership, and operational excellence across the entire value chain.

From production planning and supply chain alignment through to go-to-market execution and customer engagement, you will own the full lifecycle of the category—ensuring strong commercial outcomes and long-term strategic success.

This role can be based at any of the following sites: Rhodes (NSW), Melbourne(VIC), Rocklea (QLD)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own full P&L accountability, driving revenue growth, margin expansion, and cost optimisation across the category
  • Lead financial planning including budgeting, forecasting, performance tracking, and delivery of key commercial metrics (e.g. yield, cost-to-serve, pricing, and profitability)
  • Develop and execute short-, mid-, and long-term category strategies, including product, market, and investment roadmaps
  • Oversee end-to-end operations across production, supply chain, logistics, and value-add activities to ensure quality, efficiency, and supply continuity
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to deliver effective go-to-market strategies, including pricing, product innovation, packaging, and customer growth plans
  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with growers, suppliers, and partners to ensure supply security, quality, and long-term value creation
  • Identify and execute growth opportunities across new products, markets, and channels, while managing associated risks
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Act as a senior leader within the business, contributing to enterprise-wide strategy, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement

 

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related discipline
  • Proven experience managing a P&L or large-scale category/business unit
  • Strong commercial acumen across pricing, margin management, and financial performance
  • Demonstrated leadership experience across cross-functional teams
  • Background in fresh produce, FMCG, agriculture, or supply chain-driven industries (preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, and seasonal environment
