Job Description
About the Role
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport goods and materials within a facility. This role involves loading and unloading shipments, organising inventory, and ensuring that materials are handled safely and efficiently.
This role reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, with an early morning shift including a 12:00am start time or a 2:00am start time.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products and materials to designated locations.
Inspect forklifts before use to ensure they are in proper working condition and report any issues to maintenance.
Load and unload materials from trucks, containers, and pallets.
Ensure accurate placement of goods to prevent damage and facilitate efficient handling.
Communicate with drivers to ensure safe docking
Organise and maintain inventory in designated areas.
Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies.
Maintain accurate records of materials moved, including quantities and locations.
Document any damage or issues with goods or equipment.
Check off stock as per transport paperwork.
Check off pallet count as per paperwork.
Record & communicate any discrepancies in paperwork
Label all incoming stock with a date code and GRN label
Servicing Markets
Respond to communications for the market sales team for late orders and stock top-ups.
Locate stock and load market transport, record product type and either transfer stock or communicate to the stock control team.
Transport stock to Brisbane market floor/warehouse if required
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements
Current Forklift license
Current Drivers license
Ability to work within cold storage environments
Knowledge of warehousing/stores
Excellent time management skills
Strong understanding of safety procedures and material handling techniques.
Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment efficiently.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Basic math and record-keeping skills
